Welcome to RVCC, where we measure our success by the success of our students. Whether you’re beginning your college education or seeking technical training for workplace skills, we’re committed to giving you the skills you need to see the world in a broader perspective and to thrive in a changing economy.
These are exciting times at RVCC as we continue to build on our successes and plan for the future.
February marks the opening of the Ray Bateman Center for Student Life and Leadership—a sustainable facility designed to promote interactive, team-based learning, and student achievement. The Center offers flexible space for student clubs and organizations to meet. It supports initiatives to help students develop their academic skills and cultivate their sense of civic responsibility and commitment to the community.
Construction of the Bateman Center project would not have been possible without the support of the Counties of Somerset and Hunterdon; the State of New Jersey; foundations; private donors; and the many RVCC faculty, staff and alumni who recognize the value of having a Student Center on campus. In addition, hundreds of RVCC students participated in fundraising events in support of their Student Center.
The Student Center is just the first phase of a major expansion of the Branchburg campus. This spring we hope to break ground on the 26,000 square-foot addition to the Whitman Science Center, which will include new labs, classrooms and offices to accommodate the growing number of students majoring in science-related fields. We also plan to begin construction on a 33,000 square-foot Workforce Training Center to house new programs, which were designed in partnership with local industry, in such fields as automotive technology, advanced manufacturing, allied health, cyber security, entrepreneurship, cosmetology and environmental control technology.
I’m pleased to report that we continue to make huge strides forward in building pathways for success. In the past few months we’ve signed our first two international transfer agreements with both the University of Greenwich and The American University of Paris. We’ve also signed a dual admissions agreement with Drew University, and RVCC has become only the fifth community college in the country to have a transfer agreement with the prestigious School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
From building state-of-the-art facilities, to developing innovative programs in response local workforce needs, to promoting community service as part of the curriculum, we are dedicated to empowering our students and ensuring their success. I invite you to visit RVCC and learn more about all we can do for you.
