The Hair Braiding program leads to State Licensure and as such, candidates must comply with the following  *State Board Licensing Requirements*:

  • Candidates must be 17 or older
  • Complete the required hours of training (50 hours)
  • Pass State Board's Theorical & Practical examinations after the training
  • Have one of the following: SSN, U.S. Work Permit or ITIN# (tax paying #)
  • Be able to complete one health physical as required by the New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology and Hair Styling
  • Satisfactory completion of high school or its equivalent. The following are deemed to constitute such proof:
    • A high school diploma
    • A certified high school transcript substantiating successful completion of a secondary program
    • A transcript or diploma issued after successful passage of the examination developed by the General Educational Development (GED) Testing Service

Perfect for: Adults who are interested in becoming a licensed hair braider or licensed hair stylists looking to further expand their hair skills. Taught by local salon owner, this course is offered Mondays in campus and Tuesdays virtual. All materials are included.
