What to Expect When You Take Classes This Fall at RVCC

Are you currently enrolled at another college but plan to continue your studies closer to home?  Maybe you just graduated from high school and are still uncertain about your plans this fall. Or perhaps you’re an adult who finds yourself in need of new skills to get or keep a job. Regardless of your situation, RVCC knows that the last few months have been filled with uncertainty, and we are to help you move forward, plan for the future and keep your educational goals on track!

Attending RVCC’s Virtual Open House is a great way to get your questions answered. You can register here! And, after you apply to RVCC for free, check out RVCC’s I’ve Applied, What’s Next Session.

RVCC has been working on a plan for reopening the campus for the Fall Semester, and providing you with on-campus and remote learning options. The plan ensures that you can move forward in reaching your education goals as it offers you: safe, flexible, supportive and high quality instructional options.

Which Categories of Classes Will Be Offered in Fall 2020?

  1. Online Anytime: This option features online classes where you study from home according to your own schedule. All interaction with faculty and classmates is online, and you never have to come to campus. It's a great option if you need a more flexible schedule. Check out the classes here!
  1. Remote Classroom: It's like being in a traditional classroom, but you can do it from home. Your class is held at a scheduled time. You log in from your computer and interact with your professor and classmates in real time. It's a great option if you like having a schedule and enjoy asking questions and taking part in live group discussions with classmates but would prefer not to come to campus.
  1. Hands-on Campus Classes: There are some classes that just don't work online and need hands-on classroom learning including: lab sciences, health care, arts classes and some career training programs such as HVAC, auto tech and cosmetology. Some classes also just work better in person such as Speech and ESL. The number of students in all these classes will be reduced so you can safely practice social distancing. To view the summer and fall course schedules, visit here and register now!

Regardless of which instructional option you choose, you'll still have access to all of RVCC’s support services such as: Tutoring & Library Services; Academic Advising; Career & Transfer Services; Disability Services; Financial Aid; Counseling & Resource Center; and Student Life. All services will be offered remotely and on campus.

The plans for the fall are evolving and the College continues to wait for guidance from the Governor’s Office. Although the Fall Semester may look different from past semesters, the College is committed to helping all students move forward, plan for the future and keep their educational goals on track.
