Yes—You Can Get Financial Aid

At Raritan Valley Community College, we believe every student deserves the chance to pursue a college education—regardless of immigration status. If you’re an undocumented student or an NJ Dreamer, you may qualify for New Jersey state financial aid that can make college affordable, accessible, and achievable.

New Jersey offers financial aid programs for eligible undocumented students through the NJ Alternative Financial Aid Application. This allows NJ Dreamers to access many of the same state grants and scholarships available to other residents.

With this support, many students pay little to no tuition at RVCC.

Who Is Considered an NJ Dreamer?

You may be eligible for state financial aid if you:

  • Attended a New Jersey high school for at least three years
  • Graduated from a NJ high school or earned a NJ‑issued GED
  • Are able to file an affidavit stating you will apply for legal immigration status when eligible
  • Meet New Jersey residency requirements
  • Are not eligible to file the FAFSA due to immigration status

If this sounds like you, RVCC is ready to help you take the next step.

What Financial Aid Can NJ Dreamers Receive?

Eligible students may qualify for:

  • Tuition Aid Grant (TAG) – One of the most generous state grant programs in the country.
  • Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) – Covers up to 100% of tuition and approved fees for qualifying students.
  • Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) – Provides academic, financial, and personal support for eligible students.
  • RVCC Scholarships Many scholarships do not require citizenship or FAFSA eligibility.

These programs can dramatically reduce your cost of attending RVCC—and in many cases, make tuition completely free.
