How to take a class

as a Guest Student

Already enrolled at another college or university? RVCC welcomes visiting and guest students who want to take a course and transfer the credits back to their home institution. Whether you are looking to catch up, get ahead, fulfill a requirement, or explore a subject of interest, RVCC offers affordable, flexible courses designed to help you stay on track toward your degree.

1. Search for Courses

Start by searching RVCC’s course schedule to see which classes are being offered.

When reviewing courses, check:

  • The term you want to attend
  • Course subject and title
  • Meeting days and times
  • Course format, such as online, remote, or in-person
  • Seat availability
  • Prerequisites or other course requirements

You can also review course outlines for more detailed information about course content.

2. Get Approval from Your Home College

Before applying or registering, contact your home college or university to confirm that the RVCC course will transfer back and apply toward your degree or program requirements.

This step is important. RVCC cannot guarantee that another institution will accept a course for transfer credit.

3. Apply to RVCC and Register

After you choose your course and confirm transfer approval with your home institution, apply to RVCC as a visiting student.

Once your application is processed, follow the registration instructions provided by RVCC.
