RVCC was rated as the top community college in the US for its sustainability efforts in 2025 by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE).
National civic leader
RVCC graduate Manuela Bulgaro (Class of 2026) has been named a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Bulgaro, a Social Sciences major, joins students from 39 states, Washington, DC, and Mexico in the 2026-2027 cohort of Newman Civic Fellows. The yearlong program recognizes students who stand out for their leadership potential and commitment to creating positive change in their communities.
RVCC’s Pray Family Center for Service Learning and Civic Engagement is providing a generous stipend to support Bulgaro’s participation in the fellowship.
Voter participation, engagement recognition
RVCC graduate Calvin Edgar has been recognized nationally by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN) in the 4th annual ALL IN Student Voting Honor Roll. Edgar helped lead the College’s RVotes Matter initiative to increase student voter registration. He also was an active participant in the ALL IN Challenge Voting Summit and Communities of Practice.
In addition, ALL IN honored RVCC for its nonpartisan democratic engagement efforts with the “2022 New Jersey Campus Voting Challenge Highest Voting Rate: Community College” and the “2022 New Jersey Campus Voting Challenge Highest Registration Rate: Community College.”
The College also earned a Bronze Seal from ALL IN based on its 2022 campus voting rate from Tuft University’s National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement report. RVCC is 1 of only 6 US community colleges receiving the award.
