Sessions & Schedule
The Children’s Campus offers several session options:
Half Day
7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Morning + Nap
7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Full Day
7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Children must be enrolled for a minimum of three sessions per week. Families may choose full-time or part-time care, based on availability.
Schedule Changes & Drop-In Care
Schedule changes may be possible when staffing is available. Families must complete a Change of Schedule form when requesting a schedule change.
Drop-in days or additional half-days may be approved based on staffing and availability. Children must already be enrolled in the program to use drop-in care.
Tuition, Billing & Payments
Tuition rates are based on the number of days and sessions a child is enrolled.
Tuition is billed monthly through Procare. Drop-in fees, when applicable, are added to the monthly statement.
Payments may be made securely through the Procare app. Check payments should be made payable to Raritan Valley Community College and submitted through the Finance Office.
Tuition and fees not paid by the due date may be subject to a late fee.
Childcare Assistance Programs
The Children’s Campus accepts funding from government assistance programs, including Community Child Care Solutions and NORWESCAP.
Parents and guardians are responsible for enrolling in these programs and obtaining an approved contract. Families are also responsible for any co-payments or charges not covered by the funding agency.
Withdrawal Policy
Thirty days’ notice is required when withdrawing from the Children’s Campus to avoid charges for the following month.
Credit is not given for illness, holidays, or vacation.
Lunch & Food
Families must send lunch from home for children who are at the center during the day.
Food warming is available only in the infant room. Families should speak with the center if their child has specific food, feeding, or storage needs.
Medication Policy
Prescription medication must be current, in the original container, labeled for the child, and administered only as directed.
Parents must complete a signed Permission to Administer Medication form for each child and each medication.
Staff document the date, time, medication administrator, and any reactions. Medication is stored securely in the Director’s office or refrigerator. Children may never keep medication in their possession.
Only a parent, the Director, or the Head Teacher may administer medication.
Allergies
Parents must notify the Children’s Campus in writing about any allergies and provide updates as needed.
Teachers are informed of classroom allergies, and allergy information is posted where food is served. Parents of children with known allergies should provide safe alternative snacks and coordinate with the Head Teacher.
In the event of an allergic reaction, EpiPens with the child’s prescription label and/or antihistamines in the original container with the child’s name are kept on hand and accessible in the office.
Preventing Infection
Parents must report communicable diseases to the Children’s Campus.
Children may return after a communicable illness only with a doctor’s note confirming they are no longer contagious.
Excludable illnesses may include respiratory, gastrointestinal, and contact illnesses, chicken pox, COVID, lice, impetigo, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis A, strep throat, tuberculosis, whooping cough, ringworm, conjunctivitis, and other infections.
Parent Involvement, Communication & Visitation
Open communication between families and teachers supports each child’s growth and well-being.
The Children’s Campus shares information through:
- ClassDojo, email, RVCC website updates, and text messages
- Parent bulletin boards and classroom newsletters
- Daily information sheets for nursery and toddler families
- Accident and illness reports
- Informal notes and drop-off/pick-up conversations
- Parent-teacher conferences at least twice each year
Families are encouraged to participate through conferences, meetings, open houses, classroom visits, and special activities. Parents and guardians may volunteer talents, share cultural traditions, or take part in holiday and learning events.
Unannounced visits are welcome. Tours for prospective families may be scheduled with the Director.
Birthday Celebrations
Families who would like to celebrate a child’s birthday should speak with the classroom teacher in advance.
Teachers will help determine the best approach for the class, especially when allergies or food restrictions are a concern.
Screen Time & Social Media Policy
The Children’s Campus does not use television for children of any age.
Children under age 2 do not have computer or video access. Preschool children may have limited screen time only for curriculum-related topics or during extreme weather. This may include up to 10 minutes of computer time and up to 20 minutes of video time.
Parents and guardians are expected to use good judgment and respect confidentiality when using social media or the internet. Families should not post negative, false, or confidential information about the center, staff, families, or children.
Photos or videos of children other than your own may not be posted without approval. Inappropriate use of social media may result in removal from the program.
Photo & Media Policy
Parents and guardians may post photos of their own child but may not post images of other children without written consent.
Identifying information about staff, children, or families should not be shared online.
Staff may photograph children for classroom displays, individual files, or media use only with prior parent permission. Requests from media or outside agencies require parental consent.
Parents who do not want their child photographed should notify the Director or Office Manager.
Classroom Management & Discipline Policy
At the Children’s Campus, discipline means teaching rules and self-control, not punishment.
Children learn to cooperate and understand social expectations through guidance that is:
- Developmentally appropriate and responsive to individual differences
- Consistent, patient, and fair
- Positive, with prompt praise for appropriate behavior
- Forgiving, with each day treated as a fresh start
If needed, a child may have a brief “sit-and-watch” moment to regain self-control. Staff are trained to follow these guidelines and do not use physical punishment.
Expulsion Policy
The Children’s Campus prioritizes the safety and well-being of children, families, and staff.
A child may be asked to withdraw from the program for serious harm to self or others, ongoing aggression, or if parents or guardians fail to meet program requirements.
Before withdrawal is considered, staff work with families and may request evaluations or additional support to help meet the child’s needs.
