Financial Challenges Shouldn't Stop Your Education

Raritan Valley Community College understands that life can change quickly—job loss, reduced hours, medical expenses, or other unexpected circumstances can impact your ability to pay for college. If your current financial situation isn’t accurately reflected on your FAFSA or NJ Alternative Application, you may qualify for a Financial Aid Income Appeal.

An income appeal allows RVCC’s Financial Aid Office to take a closer look at your updated financial circumstances and determine whether you may be eligible for additional aid. Our goal is to ensure your financial aid package truly supports your path forward.

Why Submit an Income Appeal?

Students often qualify for an appeal when they experience:

  • Loss of employment or significant reduction in income
  • Death of a parent or spouse
  • Changes in household size or marital status
  • Disability
  • Loss of taxable or untaxed benefits
  • One Time Income
  • Unreimbursed medical expenses- paid out of pocket

If any of these apply to you, an appeal may help increase your eligibility for grants, scholarships, or other aid.
