Back by popular demand, the Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium’s new programs commemorating America’s 250th birthday will be featured in its November lineup. The following shows will be presented:

Revolutionary Skies, Saturdays, November 7, 14, and 21, at 7 p.m.

Did the sky play a part in the Revolutionary War? Did the Moon guide a nighttime informant? Who crossed into enemy territory “in the name of science?” Learn about celestial events and scientists during the Revolutionary War period. (Recommended for ages 10-adult)

Redcoats to Rebels laser concert, Saturdays, November 7, 14, and 21, at 8 p.m.

The British are coming—and bringing rockin’ music. Enjoy a laser show featuring music from rock ‘n’ roll songs popular during the famous “British Invasion.” Tunes by such bands as The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and Queen will be featured. Then, we’ll switch continents and enjoy some classic rock songs from American bands, including Journey, Guns N Roses, Bon Jovi, and Twisted Sister.

Additional events at the RVCC Planetarium in November include:

The Sky Above, Saturday, November 7, at 5 p.m.

This 45-minute, sensory-friendly program is designed for families with children on the Autism spectrum or those with developmental disabilities. Neurotypical children are welcome as well. During the show, the doors will remain open so children may freely leave and return if they choose. Lights will be left dim (instead of dark), and the audio will be lowered and kept at a consistent level. The program, which is presented on a kindergarten level, will include music, laser lights, stories, and information about the planets, the Moon and constellations. (Recommended for ages 3-adult)

Cosmic Questions, Saturdays, November 7 & 14, at 3 p.m.

Several museum staff members and local celebrities were asked to contribute their questions about space, and the answers are explained during the program. The show tackles such big mysteries as aliens, black holes, and the multiverse. (Recommended for ages 6-12)

Laser Pop Rock, Saturdays, November 7 & 14, at 4 p.m.

Watch lasers “dance” across the dome while listening to songs to sing along with, including “Livin’ on a Prayer” by Bon Jovi, “Best Day of My Life” by American Authors, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen, and “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift. (Recommended for ages 6-12)

Sunset Meditation, Friday, November 13, at 7 p.m.

The Planetarium features a dark and quiet space for relaxation—the perfect place for meditation. Enjoy a guided meditation and gentle astronomy experience in the comfortable, reclined seats in the RVCC Planetarium. Relax under a night sky filled with stars, then travel from Earth to beyond our galaxy. (Recommended for ages 10-adult)

Rockin’ Rocket Ride, Saturday, November 21, at 3 p.m.

Put on your space suit and blast-off into outer space to visit the Moon, Sun, and planets. A lively experience for young people, the show features selected music from “Journey Into Space” by Jane Murphy. (Recommended for ages 3-8)

Lasers for Littles, Saturday, November 21, at 4 p.m.

The youngest audience members are encouraged to sing along with songs by a variety of artists, including “Kalien the Alien” by mr RAY, “I Don’t Want to Live on the Moon” from Sesame Street, “Fruit Salad” by The Wiggles, and “Baby Shark.” (Recommended for ages 3-8)
