This program prepares students for employment as phlebotomists in hospitals, outpatient clinics, physician practices, laboratories, and insurance companies. Students learn specimen collection techniques, patient interaction skills, safety procedures, and specimen processing while gaining hands-on experience in both laboratory and clinical environments.

Clinical practice is conducted during daytime weekday hours and is assigned after the first month of class. Students should plan to be available for at least one week of daytime clinical experience at a local healthcare facility.

Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to sit for the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (ASPT) National Certification Exam, which is administered at RVCC. RVCC is an approved provider of ASPT training.
