Center for Gender & Sex Equity

We are a collective of faculty, staff, students, and community members dedicated to challenging feminist traditions by creating community space for all identities to achieve individual and social change. Our philosophy is ‘from margin to center,’ which includes creating and maintaining a campus community that is safe, inclusive, and equitable. We recognize the importance of caring for the self and others as radical and revolutionary. We honor our many historical struggles, foster discussion of intergenerational and transnational views on feminisms, and promote open dialogue and activism.

All of our events and programs seek to build and nurture a community around sexual & gender-based education that engages our students, faculty, staff, and the greater RVCC community. 

Uniting theory with practice, we provide quality, scholarship-driven programming that supports the institution's commitment to inter-cultural development, inclusivity, and belonging. In addition, we also help to grow and support the Women and Gender Studies academic program. The Center is led by a faculty member and housed in the Department of Institutional Engagement.
