RVCC opens its dance, music, and vocal ensembles to the wider community. Rehearse weekly, sharpen your craft, and take the stage in public performances alongside current students.

A few ensembles hold auditions — most don’t.

Ensembles

Raritan Valley Dance Ensemble

This class is an opportunity to work as part of a touring dance company. Through this experience, you will practice and perform a variety of dances. Weekly rehearsals and public performances are required. Interested community participants are welcome to join on a non-credit, fee-paying basis through the Division of Community Education, and students may participate on a credit or noncredit basis. Dance pants and shoes are to be purchased by the student.

Chamber Music

Audition required. This small ensemble course provides an opportunity for the study and performance of chamber music literature in a wide variety of styles. Weekly rehearsals and one or more public performances are required. Different repertory will be featured each semester. Students will improve their ensemble skills and their music reading ability.

 

RVCC Chorale

This large ensemble course provides an opportunity for the study and performance of choral literature in a wide variety of styles. Weekly rehearsals and one or more public performances are required. Different repertory will be featured each semester. Students will improve their ensemble skills and their music reading ability.

RVCC Jazz Ensemble

Audition required. Enrollment may be limited by the needs of the ensemble. This performance ensemble class pursues the study and performance of jazz repertoire in an ensemble format, through the exploration and development of interpretation and improvisation of jazz compositions and arrangements in various jazz styles. Public performances on or off-campus are required.  Auditions are open to qualified students and community participants.
