’Tis the season for holiday happenings at Raritan Valley Community College. Each year, our campus comes alive with a number of ways to celebrate the season for students and community members of all ages, with affordable, family-friendly holiday events. Check out our festive array of offerings!

Theatre Shows

The Theatre at RVCC presents a wide range of cultural programming by professional touring companies of regional, national and international stature. Don’t miss this exciting lineup of holiday-themed shows for 2017! For tickets and more information, click here.

  • The Ultimate Christmas Show (abridged): Reduced Shakespeare Company
    Saturday, December 2 at 8 p.m., Tickets: $25 & $35
    An irreverent yet heartwarming trip through the holidays, The Ultimate Christmas Show (abridged) is festive, funny, physical family fun as these Three Wise Guys send-up and celebrate your favorite winter holiday traditions.
  • Christmas with The Annie Moses Band
    Sunday, December 3 at 2 p.m., Tickets: $25 & $35
    A unique combination of chamber strings, soaring vocals and infectious rhythms will transform your favorite songs of the season into pure excitement. These virtuoso musicians combine the best of beloved genres in a style that unifies audiences, young and old, classical connoisseurs and roots enthusiasts, jazz aficionados and bluegrass buffs.
  • Live from WVL Radio Theatre: It’s a Wonderful Life
    Tuesday, December 5 at 2 p.m. & 7 p.m., Tickets: $15 (2 p.m) & $20 (7 p.m.)
    It’s Christmas Eve in 1945, and only a handful of WVL Radio’s actors have braved the blizzard to perform that evening’s broadcast of It’s a Wonderful Life and keep the station afloat. This clever 1940s radio-style stage adaptation breathes new life into the poignant story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls, a tale that remains as fresh and relevant as ever.
  • The Great Russian Nutcracker: Moscow Ballet
    Friday, December 8 at 4 & 8 p.m., Tickets: $40 & $50
    Moscow Ballet’s spectacular scenic design, gorgeous costumes and the exquisite artistry of 40 top Russian dancers have made The Great Russian Nutcracker an American holiday tradition not to be missed. Beloved Russian fairytale characters add to the whimsical and imaginative storytelling that sets this Nutcracker
  • Nutcracker Tea Party
    Friday, December 8 at 6:30 p.m., Tickets: $30/adults, $25/children
    For an extra-special Nutcracker experience, we invite you to attend our popular Nutcracker Tea Party. This unique holiday event, perfect for children and their families, will be held between performances of The Great Russian Nutcracker. A wonderful way to make lasting holiday memories with your loved ones!
  • A Christmas Carol: Nebraska Theatre Caravan
    Sunday, December 10 at 2 p.m., Tickets: $40 & $50
    This celebrated adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is rich with thrilling ensemble music, alive with color and movement and tells this great and enduring tale in a manner that people of all ages will enjoy. Featuring a cast of 24 performers, live musicians, and Broadway-style scenery and costumes, the show will have audiences cherishing this sumptuous holiday classic.

Planetarium Shows

The RVCC Planetarium lets visitors journey into outer space with a state-of-the-art, all-dome experience that’s open to the public. The Alien Who Stole Christmas
Saturdays, December 2, 9, 16 at 3 p.m., Tickets $8
Discover the stars visible in the winter sky. Then follow Santa on a trip through the solar system when a friendly alien kidnaps him. The kids on the other planets need presents too, you know! (Recommended for ages 6-10)

  • Winter Wonder Lights
    Saturdays, December 2, 9, 16, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., Tickets $8
    Listen to holiday hits such as “Wizards in Winter,” “Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree,” and “Dominic the Donkey.” (Recommended for ages 6-adult)  
  • Mystery at the North Pole
    Fridays, December 8, 15 at 7 p.m., Tickets $8
    Santa is sick!  He’s too ill to deliver presents this year. Who could have done this? Who would want to sabotage Christmas? Was it an elf?  A reindeer? The audience will need to look at the suspects and figure out who is guilty. An RVCC Student Production. (Recommended for ages 10-adult)

Holiday Art Show and Sale

Each holiday season, our Visual and Performing Arts Department presents an exhibition and sale featuring the work of RVCC’s ceramics students, instructors and several alumni. Offering an opportunity to buy unique, handmade holiday gifts, this year’s event will be held December 4-8 from noon - 8 p.m. (Monday – Thursday) and noon - 6 p.m. (Friday).
