6 “Must Know” RVCC Services Designed to Help Students Succeed

From the time that you register as a student until the moment you graduate, RVCC offers a variety of resources designed with your success in mind. Are you interested in speaking with a College Transfer Advisor to learn how to transfer credits earned elsewhere to RVCC? Do you need help with your resume? Or perhaps you are uncertain of which classes you need to satisfy the requirements for your major? No matter what your career or academic need, RVCC offers academic advising that will help you succeed. Here are 6 “Must Know” services below that are designed to get you on track and moving forward toward your goal. Be sure to share these RVCC resources with your friends!

#1: Advising and Counseling

Are you looking to transfer credits earned at another school? Or are you a high schooler interested in taking college classes at RVCC? Maybe you are returning to the classroom after many years in the workplace and find college challenging to navigate. Regardless of your situation, RVCC’s Advising & Counseling Services empowers you to determine your personal and career goals and take responsibility for accomplishing the necessary action plan. #2: Tutoring

At RVCC, your success is paramount! The Academic Support Center offers free online and in-person tutoring services from seasoned tutors in a comfortable, welcoming environment. You can also take advantage of the educational software, participate in a tutor-assisted study group, and more! #3: Library

RVCC’s Evelyn S. Field Library is the College’s center for research and information. Whether you are conducting research, require access to computers, or simply need a place to study alone or as a group, you can find it at the Library. Research assistance is available in person and online during hours of operation. Be sure to make the Library part of your RVCC experience!

#4: Career Services

RVCC’s Career Services offers a wide range of career services that help you identify your interests and skills and make informed career decisions. You can attend workshops on insightful topics such as resume development, effective interviewing skills, and employment trends. You can also check out FOCUS, a handy, online self-assessment tool that helps you select a major and a career path. It’s no secret that having real-world work experience makes you more marketable to future employers—especially in this ever competitive marketplace. Internships are a great way to gain an understanding of your major field and whether it’s the right fit for you. According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers, 95% of employers said that prior work experience is a factor in hiring decisions.
