Administrator Receives OTA Education, Community Awareness Award

Kim Meany of Lake Hopatcong, Raritan Valley Community College Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) Academic Fieldwork Coordinator, has received the “Award of Merit OTA: Advocacy for OTA Education and Community Awareness” from the New Jersey Occupational Therapy Association.

She received the award on October 22 at Rutgers University, Newark, during a ceremony held at the university’s Health Science Building.

Meany, who has been at RVCC for five years, has been honored for her efforts advocating for OTA students by providing them with an enriched learning experience both inside and outside the classroom. She is also being recognized for her work with the Student Occupational Therapy Assistant Association (SOTAA) at RVCC, including coordinating such events as food and toy drives, Tools 4 School, and backpack awareness programs in school districts, as well as participating at local community events.

A Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant, Meany received a Bachelor of Science from DeVry University. She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, MI.
