Learn more about training for a rewarding career in Cosmetology or Esthetics at Raritan Valley Community College at a Beauty Professions Information Session, Tuesday, January 21, from 5-6:30 p.m. The event will be held in the Workforce Training Center at the College’s Branchburg campus.

RVCC’s next Cosmetology program will be offered January 27 - November 25. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The next Esthetics program will run February 24 - August 25. Classes are held Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

During the Information Session, participants will learn about RVCC’s programs in Cosmetology and Esthetics (Skin Care) as they view and participate in hands-on hair demonstrations; meet the programs’ director; take part in a question-and-answer segment; and apply for either program. RVCC’s Cosmetology and Esthetics programs feature an accomplished teaching staff, innovative teaching methods, and opportunities for job shadowing and salon practicum. The programs offer proactive job placement for graduates and opportunities to hear about the industry from people working in the field.

The RVCC programs also offer Protégé, a working salon and spa where Cosmetology and Esthetics students learn to master their skills. The facility gives students the opportunity to learn the most contemporary haircutting and styling techniques, fashion-forward color trends and skin care regimens. Spa and salon services are also available by appointment to help students improve their business, retail and interpersonal skills. The spa has four treatment areas as well as electrotherapy machines.

In the past few years, 90 percent of RVCC’s Cosmetology students have found employment in the field and 100 percent have passed their state licensing exam. According to the United States Department of Labor, employment of hairdressers, hairstylists, cosmetologists, skin care specialists, manicurists and pedicurists, and shampooers is projected to grow 13 percent through 2026.
