New Trustee Named to College's Board of Trustees

Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Board of Trustees welcomed new member Dr. Helena Swanicke at its meeting held Tuesday, November 12. The Warren resident was appointed to the Board by New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

A full professor at Middlesex County College (MCC) since 1992, Dr. Swanicke is a certified Reading Specialist who also has taught at the elementary and junior high levels. She teaches developmental reading and writing and Composition I and II at Middlesex County College. At MCC, she has served on Divisional Council and Middle States Committees and chaired two Task Forces on the College Assembly. She also has presented at college workshops and professional conferences, and has published two developmental reading textbooks with a co-author. She was an adjunct reading instructor at RVCC from 1988-1990.

Dr. Swanicke earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary/Special Education from Rutgers College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick; a Master’s Degree in Reading Instruction from Concordia University, Illinois; and a Master of Letters and a Doctor of Letters from Drew University, Madison, NJ.
