RVCC Professor Creates Mural in Queens’ Koreatown
In August, Ji Yong Kim, RVCC Assistant Professor in the Arts & Design department, completed a large public mural, “Color of Sound," on the walls of the Karaoke building in Murray Hill, Queens, NY. Supported by the Asian American Federation and NYC Small Business Services, the project was commissioned as part of the non-profit’s Find Your Soul campaign to promote Murray Hill’s Koreatown.
The mural, which was painted with assistance from RVCC alumni Sarah Lopez and Sarah Switlyk, depicts the rich heritage of Korean music and dance. It is located next to the LIRR Murray Hill station, an area that is popular for its Korean restaurants
