Theatre at RVCC Announces 39th Season

The Theatre at Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg will present is 39th season in 2022-2023. The lineup features a full schedule of high-quality performances that offer something for everyone—from a celebration of Broadway’s favorite rock musicals, to a magical take on a holiday classic, to a behind-the-scenes look at a beloved sitcom of yesteryear, to a performance featuring astonishing acrobatics, and more.

"We look forward to having the community join us at RVCCArts to experience the thrill of live performance in a convenient location, creating memories with friends and family that will last a lifetime,” said Jill Erwin, RVCC Director of Theatre and Conference Services.

The following shows, recommended for audience members age five and older, have been scheduled by RVCCArts this season:

Orleans, Friday, October 7, 8 p.m.; $40, $30, $25

Orleans is best known as the pop/rock band that brought audiences the classic ’70s hits “Still the One,” “Dance with Me,” and “Love Takes Time.” Now in its 49th year, the band continues to be in great demand for live performances delivering Orleans' memorable music to appreciative audiences everywhere.

Two Cheers for Democracy (Capitol Comedy), Sunday, October 30,  7 p.m.; $35, $25, $20

Capitol Comedy’s new show, Two Cheers for Democracy, provides the most contemporary take on political satire. The group utilizes today’s social and political headlines, hitting the entire political spectrum with equal fervor. Every performance is sharp, tasteful, and timely, and it’s intended purely for enjoyment by all sides.

Let’s Rock Broadway (The Diamonds), Sunday, November 13,  7 p.m.; $35, $25, $20

The Diamonds will rock the house with a brand-new program featuring hits from such favorite Broadway musicals as Jersey Boys, Grease, Mamma Mia, Saturday Night Fever, and Beatlemania. Let’s Rock Broadway is a one-of-a-kind entertainment experience spanning four decades of popular music. It salutes the best of the Great White Way and the best of rock and roll.

Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet: Friday, December 9, 4 p.m. & 8 p.m.; $60, $50, $45

This Christmas, enjoy the Nutcracker! Magical Christmas Ballet, overflowing with larger-than-life puppets, breathtaking acrobatics, and dazzling costumes. Experience the exquisite artistry of the international cast featuring stars of Ukraine ballet, performing at the highest level of classical technique.

Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom (L.A. Theatre Works), Sunday, February 19, 2023, 6 p.m.; $55, $45, $40

Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom is the hilarious and true story behind one of America’s most beloved TV comedies. Lucille Ball’s iconic series, I Love Lucy, remains one of the most groundbreaking and influential shows in television history. Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom shares these stories and more, with as much heart and humor as an episode of I Love Lucy.

Zephyr: A Whirlwind of Circus (Cirque Mechanics), Saturday, March 4, 2023, 7 p.m.; $55, $45, $40

Mechanical wonders, circus gadgetry, and astonishing acrobatics are all part of Cirque Mechanics’ new show, Zephyr: A Whirlwind of Circus, inspired by the power of the wind and the human ingenuity that goes into harnessing it. Fall under the spell of turning gears and whooshing sails in this tale about the unrelenting tug-of-war between man and nature.

Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience, Friday, March 24, 2023, 7 p.m.; $35, $25, $20

Yesterday and Today: The Interactive Beatles Experience is the nation’s most innovative and unique show utilizing the works of the Beatles. Through requests and memories, Yesterday and Today tells the audience’s story using the Beatles catalogue. Every show is different; every show is interactive. Yesterday and Today proves that the Beatles’ music truly is the soundtrack to everyone’s lives.
