Facing challenging times and uncertainty in projecting future enrollment and revenues due to the coronavirus pandemic, Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Board of Trustees has passed a $52.4 million budget for FY 2021.

The 2021 operating budget, which is relatively flat over last year, includes a $6 per credit tuition increase. The new tuition of $168 per credit will take effect for the Fall 2020 semester. For the average full-time student taking 30 credits during the academic year, tuition would increase by $180. For the average part-time student taking 12 credits during the academic year, tuition would increase by $72.

“In these unprecedented times, the College has prepared a fiscal blueprint that reinforces our mission of providing accessible, high-quality education,” said RVCC President Michael J. McDonough. “As we navigate our new reality, we will continue to work together to develop innovative and cost-effective ways to better serve our students and the community. We remain committed to our core values of teaching and supporting our inspiring students.”

The budget now goes to the Board of School Estimate for approval. The Board of School Estimate includes two freeholders from Somerset County, two freeholders from Hunterdon County, and two members of the RVCC Board of Trustees.
