Top FAQs

What is the Free Tuition Program and am I eligible?

RVCC is participating in the New Jersey Community College Opportunity Grant Program, which offers free community college to qualified students. To be eligible you must have a total household adjusted income not exceeding $65,000 and take at least 6 credits at your local community college. Eligible students will receive free tuition and most educational fees for up to 18 credits a semester. The first step is to fill out the FAFSA. Dreamers should complete the New Jersey Alternative Financial Aid Application.

What if I don’t qualify for financial aid and can’t afford tuition?

RVCC awards $300,000 in scholarships every year to worthy students. Check out all the scholarship opportunities and how to apply. The College also offers an interest-free payment plan so you can spread out your tuition payments over the semester.

What if I have an outstanding balance on my account and can’t register for classes?

Please keep checking your account through Lion’s Den to see if you still have a balance. RVCC is using funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 to forgive unpaid account balances for RVCC students who were registered between March 13, 2020 and May 21, 2021. There is nothing you need to do. Just check your Lion’s Den student account to see if you qualify. If you have any questions, contact Financial Coach.

Can I still get financial aid if I go to school part-time?

Yes, a number of state and federal grants are available to part-time students taking a minimum of 6 credits including federal Pell Grants, the state Tuition Aid Grant, and the state Community College Opportunity Grant. Click here to learn more about grants.  The first step is to fill out the FAFSA.
