In commemoration of Kristallnacht, the Institute of Holocaust & Genocide Studies at Raritan Valley Community College will present an online theatrical program with Naomi Miller, accompanied by musician Dave Schlossberg, Thursday, November 5, from 12-1:15 p.m. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Kristallnacht, also known as Night of the Broken Glass, is the name given to the violent attacks against the businesses, places of worship, and homes of Jews throughout Germany and in the annexed countries, including Austria and Sudetenland, on November 9 and 10, 1938. The violence was implemented by the Nazi leaders.
During this remembrance, Naomi Miller brings history to life through a moving musical and dramatic presentation, You Are the Future. Combining songs of the ghettos and partisans, original compositions, and powerful first-person portrayals of Holocaust survivors, Miller gives voice to those whose stories must never be forgotten.
A singer, actress, recording artist, and educator, Miller was born in a displaced persons camp in Landsberg, Germany, after World War II to parents who were the sole survivors of their families. She has devoted much of her artistic life to keeping the memories and lessons of the Holocaust alive.
Schlossberg is an award-winning pianist, composer, and musical director whose artistry spans Jewish liturgical music, klezmer, jazz, and musical theater.
