Raritan Valley Community College second-year Engineering student Marlen Chanez has been awarded an Anselmi Scholarship from the Construction Industry Advancement Program of New Jersey (CIAP).
The Franklin resident was nominated for the scholarship by Dr. Antonella Pompo, RVCC Professor of Engineering. The $1,500 annual prize is awarded to up to 10 New Jersey community college students who successfully complete one academic year in Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or Construction Technology.
Chanez, who is focusing on Civil Engineering, serves as co-president of the College’s Sisters in STEM (SIS) Club. In that role, she has participated in such activities as Little Scientist Night and a hands-on project with a local middle school. She also led the club in a successful Giving Day campaign, raising money for the RVCC Foundation.
