Knowledgeable HVAC/R technicians are in demand as homes and businesses upgrade to more efficient heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems. RVCC’s Environmental Control Technology program provides the technical knowledge and hands-on experience needed to enter this growing field.

Certificate Program

1-Year Certificate

Residential Systems ONLY. Prepare for an entry-level technician position. All classes college credit worthy.

Degree Program

2-Year Associate of Applied Science (AAS)

Residential AND Commercial training.  Prepare for any level HVAC/R position.  If you choose to pursue further education in this field, all credits in this program are fully transferable towards a B.S. in Applied HVAC Engineering at the Pennsylvania College of Technology.

Associate Degree Program

The AAS degree builds upon the certificate curriculum and places greater emphasis on commercial HVAC/R systems and advanced technical knowledge.

Certificate Program

The HVAC/R certificate program prepares students for careers installing, maintaining, and servicing residential heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems.

Students learn to:

  • Work with industry-standard tools and diagnostic equipment
  • Read wiring diagrams, schematics, and mechanical drawings
  • Understand residential HVAC/R operating sequences
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system performance issues
  • Apply thermodynamic principles to real-world systems
  • Install and maintain heating and cooling equipment
  • Develop practical skills through hands-on laboratory training

Graduates are prepared for entry-level employment with HVAC contractors, service companies, facilities departments, and refrigeration businesses.
