Emergency Medical Dispatcher (EMD)

The Emergency Medical Dispatcher Program prepares individuals for careers in emergency communications and public safety dispatch operations. Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)

Formerly known as First Responder, the Emergency Medical Responder program teaches participants how to provide immediate care during medical emergencies until advanced medical assistance arrives.

Students learn critical lifesaving skills used in workplace, community, and public safety settings and develop the confidence needed to respond effectively during emergencies.

Emergency Medical Dispatcher Program

The Emergency Medical Dispatcher Program consists of three integrated modules that prepare participants to work within emergency communication systems and public safety agencies.

911 Telecommunicator

This 40-hour course provides foundational knowledge and practical skills for working in emergency communications centers. Participants learn call handling procedures, communication protocols, and the responsibilities of emergency communications personnel.

Training aligns with nationally recognized standards including:

  • APCO ANSI National Public Safety 911 Training Standard
  • NENA Call Handling Standards
  • NFPA Professional Qualifications Standards

CPR/BLS Certification

Participants receive CPR and Basic Life Support training, providing essential lifesaving skills needed to respond to medical emergencies.

Emergency Medical Dispatcher Certification

This 32-hour national certification course prepares communications officers to manage medical emergency calls and dispatch emergency responders in accordance with the NHTSA Emergency Medical Dispatcher National Standard Curriculum.

Program Prerequisites

  • Minimum age: 18 years
  • High school diploma or GED

Emergency Medical Responder Program

Emergency Medical Responders provide immediate assistance during emergencies and play an important role in the chain of survival before advanced medical personnel arrive.

Participants learn how to:

  • Assess emergency situations
  • Provide basic lifesaving care
  • Stabilize injured or ill individuals
  • Assist emergency medical personnel
  • Support patient care during transport when required
  • Respond confidently in workplace and community emergencies

This training is valuable for individuals working in public safety, manufacturing, education, healthcare, and other environments where emergency preparedness is critical.
