Athletics at Raritan Valley Community College in NJ

College athletics play an important role in the RVCC culture. A member of the National Junior College Athletic Association Region XIX and the Garden State Athletic Conference, RVCC has been represented at the state and national levels. This includes capturing two Garden State Athletics Conference Championships in Women’s Volleyball and Men’s Cross Country along with the NJCAA Region XIX Championship in Cross Country in 2017. Thanks to this, our students are able to score big by competing for athletic scholarships at four-year colleges and universities.

RVCC currently offers 11 athletic programs that participate in NJCAA DII or NJCAA DIII levels. Scholarship NJCAA DII programs include Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Men’s Baseball and Women’s Softball. Non-scholarship NJCAA DIII programs include Men’s & Women’s Soccer, Men’s & Women’s Golf, Men’s & Women’s Cross Country and Women's Volleyball. Coming soon: Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse!!! Learn more about our various athletic programs below.

Academic Programs

The fitness industry has a wide variety of jobs available—from personal trainer to certified athletic trainer—and is projected to grow steadily throughout the next decade. If you’re looking to make sports and fitness a career, RVCC offers three fitness training programs to help you do just that:

  • The Fitness Specialist Certificate of Completion program prepares students for entry-level employment as a personal fitness trainer. Upon receiving certification, you’ll possess the skills to work as a trainer in a private health club, corporate and commercial fitness facilities, or in your own business.
  • The Associate of Science Degree in Exercise Science prepares students for jobs in the fitness industry, including health clubs, corporate fitness centers and personal training. At the same time, the program prepares the student for transfer into a four-year degree program as a junior in majors such as Exercise Physiology, Kinesiology, Athletic Training, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Sports Marketing, Pre-Medical and more.
  • The Exercise Science-Option in Sports Management, Associate of Science program focuses on the business aspects of sports, such as marketing and promotions, sales, finance, facilities, player and team management and more. The program prepares students for entry-level positions in the field and/or enables them to transfer into a four-year degree program in Sports Management.
