General, Academic and Career Programs Information Sessions, Campus Tours Slated

Learn about Raritan Valley Community College’s academic and career programs at a variety of Information Sessions being offered in June at the College’s Branchburg campus. The following events have been scheduled:

Health Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science & Career Programs Information Session, Tuesday, June 5, 9-11:30 a.m. (Gym): Learn about the College’s academic programs in such areas as Health Science, Engineering and Computer Science, as well as career programs that prepare students for employment directly after graduation. Information will be given about career pathways, hands-on learning projects and internships, as well as transfer opportunities after graduating from RVCC. Computer Science Information Session, Wednesday, June 6, 10-11 a.m. (Atrium, lower level, College Center): Learn about RVCC’s programs in such areas as Computer Science, Information Systems and Technology, Web Development/Interactive Digital Media, and Game Development. Information will be available about careers in Computer Science and technology, financial aid options, as well as enrolling in classes for the Summer Sessions or the Fall Semester. Automotive Technology Information Session, Wednesday, June 6, 4-5:30 p.m. (Workforce Training Center): Learn about RVCC’s program, meet with staff and faculty, and explore the exciting career potential in the field of Automotive Technology. The Auto Tech program offers Subaru and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) manufacturer training. Program graduates attain additional industry credentials from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS), Snap-On, and other industry partners to allow students to stand out to potential employers. Beauty Professions Information Session, Wednesday, June 6, 5-6:30 p.m. (Workforce Training Center): Participants learn about RVCC’s programs in Cosmetology and Esthetics (Skin Care) as they view and participate in hands-on hair demonstrations, meet the programs’ director, take part in a question-and-answer segment, and apply for either program. RVCC’s Cosmetology and Esthetics programs feature an accomplished teaching staff, innovative teaching methods, and opportunities for job shadowing and salon practicum. The programs offer proactive job placement for graduates. The next daytime Cosmetology program will be offered August 29, 2018-June 11, 2019. The next daytime Esthetics program will be offered July 30, 2018-January 2, 2019. Adult Orientation Session, Saturday, June 9, 9:30 a.m.-noon (Sculpture Garden, outside of Library): Tour the campus and learn about navigating the admissions process and making a successful transition to college. Hear about special services to support adult learners, CLEP exams and credit for prior learning. The event also will include an International Student workshop for students with F1 (I20 Visa) Non-Immigrant Status and special sessions for veterans and ESL students. Humanities, Social Science, Social Work, & Education (HSSE) Information Session, Thursday, June 14, 10-11 a.m. (Atrium): Learn about the College’s academic programs in such areas as Humanities, Social Science, Social Work, and Education. General Information Session and Campus Tour, Thursday, June 28, 4-6 p.m. (Atrium): Tour the campus and learn about enrolling in classes this summer or in the fall; degree programs that are to designed to transfer to top colleges and universities in New Jersey, across the country, and even in Europe; career training programs that can be completed in a year or less; and paying for college, including financial aid opportunities. It’s not too late to register for Summer Session classes. RVCC is offering a nine-week session beginning June 11 and a six-week session beginning July 9. Fall Semester classes begin August. 29.
