The Raritan Valley Community College Institute of Holocaust and Genocide Studies will present a virtual Community-wide Holocaust Remembrance Event to commemorate Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), Tuesday, April 19, from 7-8 p.m.

The event will feature a testimony from Maud Dahme, a Holocaust Survivor from the Netherlands who was liberated on April 19, 1945, as well as a virtual tour of a Montreal Holocaust Museum exhibit. The Canadian exhibit is essential to Dahme’s testimony, as Canadian troops were the ones who liberated the Netherlands. Participants will hear Dahme’s remembrances of her liberation, including the joy she experienced when she saw the Canadian troops.

The event is being co-sponsored by a number of community partners, including The Jewish Federation of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties; The New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education; The JCC Holocaust Memorial and Education Center; Jewish Family Services of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren Counties; and the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center.

The program is free of charge and open to the public. Registration is required. To register, visit https://bit.ly/3uoXgAq
