Alyssa Darden of Phillipsburg has been named the Inaugural Student Representative of the Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) Foundation Board of Directors.

In her new role, Darden will have full voting authority and will bring a student perspective to the Board.

Darden, a Liberal Arts major focusing on Social Sciences, is an active student leader on campus. She currently serves as Vice President of Scholarship for the RVCC chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; was selected to participate in this year’s class of the highly competitive Sanofi Corporate Mentor Program; and was a featured student speaker at the College’s recent 50th Anniversary Gala.

A second Student Representative for the Foundation Board of Directors will be named later this year. The Board also approved a process to attract RVCC alumni to join the organization.

“The culture of student leadership is alive and vibrant at RVCC and we are embracing it fully,” said Steven A. Reichman, Chair of the RVCC Foundation Board of Directors. “We look forward to the insights and contributions of our student leaders, as well as those of our ‘emerging class’ of recent RVCC alumni.”
