Kids Classes Focusing on STEM Topics Slated at RVCC this Spring

Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) will offer a variety of classes this spring for children interested in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) subjects. Detailed class descriptions of all science and other kids and teen classes may be found at www.raritanval.edu/youth. The following children’s STEM programs will be offered at the College’s Branchburg campus:

Engineering Principals via Building with LEGO: Students ages 6-10 build motorized models and discuss the engineering principals associated with their creations. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking skills as well as encouraging collaborative work. The class will be held Saturday, April 29, from 10 a.m.-noon. The fee is $40.

Junior Animation Station: Students ages 5-7 explore animation engineering and design their own tools to help make pictures “come alive.” The class will be held Saturday, May 6, from 10 a.m.-noon. The fee is $40.

Apprentice Forensic Engineering: Students ages 8-12 use technology and math as well as principles of investigative science and forensic engineering to analyze evidence in a simulated crime scene. The class will be held Saturday, May 6, from 1-4 p.m. The fee is $50.
