RVCC to Hold Online Giving Day in March to Support Students, College Programs

Wednesday, March 3, 2021

The Raritan Valley Community College Foundation will hold a special Giving Day 2021 on March 18 to help the students, programs, and the faculty of RVCC. Members of the community are invited to participate in the 5th Annual Giving Day, a 24-hour, online, fundraising event in support of Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg.

Given the COVID-19 pandemic and all of the associated struggles, this year Giving Day is focusing on four broad areas at the College—Student Life, Student Support, Academic & Faculty Programs, and Institutes—representing a significant cross-section of RVCC.

“We appreciate just how challenging these times are, but that’s all the more reason to give and support those institutions that provide pathways to a better quality of life. RVCC Giving Day is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to show their support of the College, its impact in our community, and on the lives of our students. Everyone’s generosity is needed—now more than ever,” says Mike Marion, Executive Director, RVCC Foundation.

Within each focus area, the Foundation also has provided 12 specific giving areas for donations, such as Student Clubs, Athletics, Honors College, Scholarships, the Student Emergency Fund, the Food Pantry, and the Paul Robeson Institute for Ethics, Leadership, and Social Justice, among others, as well as “write-in” options if a donor’s particular interest isn’t reflected on the list. In addition, special incentive awards of $5,000, $3,000, and $2,000 from the RVCC Foundation will be granted to the three donation areas that attract the most community support.

Last year, RVCC Giving Day raised $23,505, including more than $3,500 for the College’s Student Emergency Fund/Food Pantry/Resource Center.

Those interested in being counted as a donor should visit www.raritanval.edu/givingday on March 18 and make a minimum gift of $10. Donors also may text RVCC2021 to 41444 to donate from their phone, using any major credit or debit card. Anyone interested in making a “pledge” of support in advance of March 18 can do so by texting RVCC2021 to 41444 or by visiting the RVCC Giving Day site at www.raritanval.edu/givingday. Those who pledge in advance will be contacted on March 18 by RVCC staff to accept their gift and designated area of support.
