Student Jazz Ensemble to Perform

Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Student Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Thursday, December 7, at 7:30 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.

The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.

The ensemble will perform pieces by a variety of jazz artists, including Lester Young, Freddie Hubbard, Joe Henderson, George Shearing, Dexter Gordon, and Sonny Rollins. The group also will perform music from the great American songbook featuring pieces by Bart Howard, Ted Grouya, Don Raye, and Richard Rodgers. The main attraction of these performances will include spontaneous improvisations by student musicians.

The Student Jazz Ensemble includes the following members: Keith Bernstein, Chris Shaffer, Branchburg; Mason L. Shepherd Jr., Jon Loree, Jeff Stollery, and Daniel Epps, Hillsborough; Daniel Tenenbaum, Bridgewater; Shawn Wallace and Keryn Williams, North Plainfield; Joseph Maselli and Steven Comanda, Somerville; Cora Hartigan, Stewartsville; Sebastian Friedermann and Rafael Alvarez, Flemington; David Scala, Lebanon Boro; Christopher Borell, Raritan; Rim Jalal, Edison; and Anthony DeAngelo, Clinton.
