Student Jazz Ensemble to Perform December Concert

Raritan Valley Community College’s (RVCC) Student Jazz Ensemble will perform in concert Thursday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m., in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.

The group is directed by John Loehrke of New York City.

The ensemble will perform pieces by a variety of jazz artists, including Duke Ellington, Thelonious Monk, Eddie Harris, Don Rader, and Oliver Nelson. The group also will perform music from the great American songbook featuring pieces by Richard Rodgers, Matt Dennis, Jimmy Van Heusen, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jerome Kern, and Johnny Burke. The main attraction of these performances will include spontaneous improvisations by student musicians.

The Student Jazz Ensemble includes the following members: Keith Bernstein and Chris Shaffer, Branchburg; Nicholas Angelo, Hillsborough; Samantha Gonzalez and Steven Comanda, Somerville; Rafael Alvarez and Matt Zacek, Flemington; David Scala, Lebanon Borough; Rim Jalal, Edison; Evan Acocella, Clinton; Gabby Taylor and Karl MacQueen, Phillipsburg; Joy Auerbach, Montgomery; Jake Buxton, Milford; Anthony DeAngelo, Asbury; Pablo Ramirez, Somerset; Andrew Lawson, Sparta; Sebastian Friedermann, Ringoes; Tony Siniscalco, Readington; Richard Bergacs, Frenchtown; and Chris Compton, Stirling.
