Raritan Valley Community College’s Visual and Performing Arts Department will present a student theatre production of The Gorges Motel, November 14-17, at 7 p.m. All performances will be held in the Welpe Theatre at the College’s Branchburg campus.

The Gorges Motel is a charming, comic chain of short plays written by six authors: Gretchen Cryer, Lynne Halliday, Isaac Himmelman, James Hindman, Arlene Hutton and Craig Pospisill. The plays, which are loosely connected, show lives intersecting in comic and dramatic fashion in a Watkins Glen, NY motel that has seen better days. The audience witnesses the ridiculous and the sublime as estranged family members struggle to reconnect, a drone “attacks” a wedding, a “spirit” visits his widow, improbable lovers make vows, healing begins on old wounds, and the courage to say “No! Not me!” is finally discovered.

The cast of 13 includes two RVCC alumni guest artists, John Pizzigoni (Green Brook) and Kathy McClain (Basking Ridge). Current students performing in the show include Kevin Asiain (Somerset); Samantha Edmund (Califon); Stephanie Garzon (Bound Brook); Aubrey Holzman (Washington); Morgan Hope (Martinsville); Destiny Jackson (Basking Ridge); Anna Logan (Berkeley Heights); Fred Lopatosky (North Plainfield); Rebecca McKinnon (Bloomsbury); Brandon Roche (Manville); and Lauren Struble (Bridgewater).

The production is being directed by Danielle Barry (Bridgewater) and Laura Ryan (Oxford) is stage manager. Chell Longfield (Glen Gardner) is coordinating costumes, and the show’s technical directors are Kenny Savoy (Piscataway) and Dave Porter (Clinton Township). James Meier (Bridgewater) is in charge of the crew.

General admission is $12 per person, $8 for students and seniors. Advanced tickets are available at the RVCC Theatre Box Office, Monday-Friday, from 11 a.m.-4 p.m., or by calling 908-725-3420 during those hours.
