RVCC Student: Andy N

Graduated RVCC:

2018 with an Associate Degree in Web Development

Before RVCC:

Andy was born and raised in Vietnam, where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. Upon arriving in the U.S. in 2011 without speaking a word of English, he started working to support his family and took free ESL classes at the library.

Why I Love RVCC:

“Right from the start, the faculty was so helpful. They showed me how to apply for financial aid, take placement tests and choose my major. RVCC really helps students grow as people and guides them on a path to achieve their goals.”

After RVCC:

Transferred to NJIT, where he’s currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Web and Information Systems. He hopes to eventually earn a Master’s degree in Information Systems.

Favorite RVCC Course:

“Interpersonal Communication. The class was set up as circle, where everyone could see each other and talk face-to-face to share their thoughts.”

Honors:

Received an RVCC Foundation Scholarship to continue his studies in computer science at NJIT.

RVCC Projects and Activities:

President of Computer Science Club; Member of Phi Theta Kappa honor society; Student Life Assistant; Academic Tutor; Helped pack and ship more than 50,000 meals to Africa as a member of the Rotaract Club.
