First Year Experience services
First Year Registration The session will assist you in getting your RVCC career off to a great start. You'll get a to meet your First Year Advisor, register for classes and learn more about valuable campus resources that can help you make a successful transition to RVCC. All new full- and part-time students need to attend. Learn more.
Advising If you are a new full-time college student you will be assigned your own First Year advisor. The advisor will assist you in developing academic, career and transfer plans, as well as provide general academic advising and course registration for each semester. You should meet with your advisor at least three times a semester to review your academic plan and develop a schedule for the next semester.
An Academic and Career Plan is your personal blueprint for success. It details all the courses required to complete your degree or certificate program, and when you should take them. It provides you with action steps for planning for a career and transferring to a four-year college or university.
Weeks of Welcome Events New students are welcomed to campus with a series of special events at the start of the semester. The events include a new student barbeque, welcome stations, convocation, spirit day and welcome back picnic. It’s all designed to make you feel connected to the College community and introduce you to the clubs, activities and events on campus.
