Information Sessions in English & Spanish, Campus Tours Slated in March

Learn about all Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) has to offer by attending an Information Session in March at the College’s Branchburg campus. The College is offering General Information Sessions and special sessions for those interested in its Automotive Technology, Cosmetology and Esthetics (Skin Care) career programs. In addition, RVCC will hold Information Sessions for adult students in English and in Spanish, as well as a special program on transitioning to college focusing on disability support services.

Prospective students, parents and guardians, and high school educators and administrators are invited to attend “Transition to College,” March 7, from 9-11 a.m., in RVCC’s Conference Center. The event will offer information about disability support services and other assistance available to students as they transition from high school to RVCC. The program will include a student panel and workshops about RVCC’s Disability Services department, wellness and financial aid. To register for the event, visit www.raritanval.edu/transitionreg.

RVCC’s General Information Sessions and campus tours are scheduled for Tuesday, March 12, 4-6 p.m., in the RVCC Conference Center (Room 102), and Wednesday, March 20, 10-11 a.m., in the Conference Center (Room 101).

During the sessions, RVCC Admissions specialists will provide information about:

• Enrolling in classes this summer and the Fall 2019 Semester
• Programs designed to help students transfer to top colleges and universities in New Jersey, across the country, and even in Europe
• Career training programs, designed in partnership with local industry, that can be completed in a year or less
• The admissions process
• Financial aid options and scholarship opportunities

Information Sessions for adults who are considering returning to college or have never attended college will be held Monday, March 11, 6 p.m. (Conference Center, Room 102), and Saturday, March 16, 11 a.m.-noon (Conference Center, Room A). Special Spanish-speaking sessions will be offered Monday, March 11, 7 p.m. (Conference Center, Room 102), and Saturday, March 16, noon-1 p.m. (Conference Center, Room A).

Aside from general admissions information, the sessions will focus on transferring college credits, earning credits for life experience, and making a successful transition back to school after being away from the classroom for years.

An Information Session for RVCC’s Automotive Technology program will be held Thursday, March 7, from 3-4 p.m., in the College’s Workforce Training Center. During the event, prospective students will have an opportunity to learn about the innovative and successful program, meet with staff and faculty, and explore the exciting career potential in the field of automotive technology. The Auto Tech program offers Subaru and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) manufacturer training. Program graduates attain additional industry credentials from Automotive Service Excellence (ASE), Mobile Air Conditioning Society (MACS), Snap-On, and other industry partners to allow students to stand out to potential employers.

RVCC will offer an Information Session for its Beauty Professions programs Tuesday, March 19, 5-6:30 p.m., in the Workforce Training Center. During the Beauty Professions Information Session participants will learn about RVCC’s programs in Cosmetology and Esthetics (Skin Care) as they view and participate in hands-on hair demonstrations, meet the programs’ director, take part in a question-and-answer segment, and apply for either program. RVCC’s Cosmetology and Esthetics programs feature an accomplished teaching staff, innovative teaching methods, and opportunities for job shadowing and salon practicum. The programs offer proactive job placement for graduates.

The next daytime Cosmetology program will be held August 28, 2019-June 9, 2020. The next daytime Esthetics program will be held July 30, 2019-January 17, 2020. An evening Esthetics program will be held September 9, 2019-June 16, 2020.
