Raritan Valley Community College in Branchburg and Drew University in Madison have entered into an innovative new agreement that provides financial incentives for RVCC graduates to earn a Bachelor's Degree and Master of Arts in Teaching at Drew.

“The new transfer agreement with Drew University offers an incredible opportunity for RVCC students who are tomorrow’s teachers to pursue both an undergraduate and graduate degree at a prestigious university. As an added benefit, Drew is offering substantial scholarships to our graduates to help them afford the cost of their education,” said RVCC President Michael J. McDonough.

The agreement will enable students who receive an Associate Degree from RVCC to seamlessly transfer into the Bachelor of Arts/Master of Arts in Teaching track at Drew. Students must fulfill certain requirements, including being accepted into both the BA and MAT programs and maintaining a requisite grade point average.

“Drew is re-invigorating our education program with an MAT degree that will prepare the next generation of teachers for the challenges of the 2020s and beyond,” said Robert Massa, Drew University’s Senior Vice President of Enrollment and Institutional Planning. "What better partner for us than one of the top community colleges in the nation? We are excited to work with RVCC to provide a seamless transfer of their education students into our BA/MAT track.”

RVCC graduates transferring to Drew may be eligible for annual academic scholarships, ranging from $12,000 to $20,000, depending on their grade point average and membership in the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. Students with a GPA of 3.75 or higher will receive a $20,000 annual undergraduate Asbury Scholarship from Drew. Admitted students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher will receive a $15,000 undergraduate Presidential Scholarship. An undergraduate Dean’s Scholarship of $12,000 will be awarded to students achieving a 3.25 GPA or higher. Students who are Phi Theta Kappa members will receive an additional $2,500 annual undergraduate scholarship. After receiving their BA from Drew, RVCC graduates also will receive a 35 percent tuition scholarship toward the MAT program at Drew.

According to the agreement, once students are approved for the BA/MAT track at Drew, they may be eligible to take up to four courses in the MAT program that would count toward both the undergraduate and graduate degrees.
