Holiday Magic is in the Air with Theatre Performances, Concerts and More!

Come home to RVCC for the holidays!  Whether you love dance and drama or music and art, RVCC has something magical for you.  And, with its convenient location, you can enjoy holiday activities stress free without big city chaos and costs.  Come one, come all and experience RVCC’s holiday happenings!

 

2018 Holiday Activities

Theatre Performances:

Enjoy outstanding holiday music, classical ballet and great storytelling including:

  • A Joyful Christmas (Eileen Ivers)

Saturday, December 1, at 8 p.m.; Tickets:  $25 & $35

Music star of Riverdance, Violinist Eileen Ivers and her band capture the magic of the season in this heartwarming, holiday show

  • The Great Russian Nutcracker (Moscow Ballet)

Friday, December 7, at 4 p.m. & 8 p.m.; Tickets: $40 & $50

Spectacular scenic design, costumes and dancers have made The Great Russian Nutcracker a holiday tradition!

  • Nutcracker Tea Party

Friday, December 7, at 6:30 p.m. Tickets: $30/Adults, $25/Children

This unique holiday event, perfect for families, is held between performances of The Great Russian Nutcracker and features delicious sweets and a photo with a ballerina!

  • The Night Before Christmas Carol (David zum Brunnen)

Tuesday, December 11, at 1 p.m. & 7 p.m.; Tickets: $15

David zum Brunnen portrays Charles Dickens and 17 familiar characters in The Night Before Christmas Carol, an acclaimed ghostly classic.

Planetarium

RVCC’s Planetarium offers a variety of star shows and laser concerts for the entire family in December, including special shows focusing on the holiday season:

  • The Alien Who Stole Christmas, Saturdays, December 15 & 22, 3 p.m.

Follow Santa on a trip through the solar system when a friendly alien kidnaps him!

  • Winter Wonder Lights, Saturdays, December 15 & 22, at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Enjoy favorites such as “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” while lasers dance overhead.

  • Mystery at the North Pole, Saturdays, December 15 & 22, 7 p.m.

Santa is too ill to deliver presents, so guests need to examine suspects to solve the mystery.

  • Winter Solstice, Saturday, December 22, 2-5 p.m. and 6-9 p.m.

Celebrate winter, the solar system and the moon!

Student Performances

Students showcase their talent in a variety of exhilarating performances such as: 

  • The RVCC Chorale: Saturday, December 8, at 8 p.m.

The program features classics such as Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantata and even an audience singalong of traditional carols.

  • DanceWorks: Tuesday and Wednesday, December 4 and 5, at 8 p.m.

From modern to ballet, students and faculty showcase their extraordinary choreography and dance skills.

  • Student Jazz Ensemble: Thursday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m.

Students perform a variety of jazz favorites from legends such as Duke Ellington.

Arts Show & Sale

This annual exhibition and sale, taking place December 3-7, features a variety of work created by students, instructors and several alumni.
